The Diocesan Youth Centre organized an outdoor weekend leadership program – ‘Into the Wild’ on 14th-15th October 2023. This program aimed to provide youngsters with an insight of being an integral part of the nature. They were given on field training on communication skills, group bonding, leadership, stress management, survival skills, waste management, spiritual nourishment and team building. Around 50 youngsters across Goa Diocese were part of this program to discovered the treasures of God’s creation.
It began on Saturday evening with the participants being taken to the destination which they were totally unaware of. After reaching the venue, the youngsters interacted with one another with an evening full of animations, activities, rosary and camp fire. After an early rise-up, before the dawn, the youth trekked to the hilltop for a breath-taking view and for relaxing guided nature meditation. Fr. Blaise, Director of Diocesan Youth Centre, celebrated the Sunday Eucharist in meaningful message on festive meal with Jesus. A session on “Coexisting with wildlife around us and Snake Awareness’ was given by Mr. Benhail Antao, a notable wildlife rescuer lead host of ‘Snakes SOS’ A show on National Geographic Channel. He cleared many myths and doubts about wildlife that we have in our communities. The participants had to prepare their own refreshments and cook their own food as a task of the program, at the end of which a few tips about trekking and hiking were given by the Dr. Neshvillie and Mr. Melroy. Finally, the day ended with music and games. The youngsters made many new friends across the state and carried back home a bag full of memories.
